JOB SUMMARY: Provide statewide mentoring, coaching and leadership to current and aspiring Board of Trustees Coaches in programs such as Lone Star Governance (LSG), Texas Strategic Leadership (TSL), Systems of Great Schools (SGS), as well as to Texas Registered and Authorized Board Training Providers, Texas Education Agency (TEA) appointed Monitors, Conservators, and Board of Managers, school boards, charter system trustees, superintendents and district/charter staff, and other initiatives from the TEA, as necessary. Build School Board coaches’ capacity to align district systems toward high impact strategies that drive the improvement of student outcomes.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
JOB KNOWLEDGE
Master’s degree f rom an accredited university required.
School board training or coaching experience and certification (such as EISO provider, Lone Star Governance Coach, or other governance program) preferred.
Mid-Management, Supervisor, Principal, or Superintendent Certification required.
Three years of relevant experience training or coaching boards with improving student outcomes required. Deep understanding of core leadership competencies for members of the board of trustees, superintendents, change management processes and practices, performance management, high level principles and practices, stakeholder engagement, and adult learning and motivation theory.
Understanding of the Texas accountability system (state and federal identification).
Strong foundation in coaching models and ability to implement with key stakeholders.
Experience with developing and implementing strategic plans that are focused on improving academic performance and student outcomes, to include stakeholder engagement, executive level communication, comprehension sharing academic data with the board, implementing progress monitoring practices with boards, effective board questioning practices, and fostering collaboration between board trustees and superintendents to accomplish district student goals.
Demonstrated effective communication and customer service skills required.
Proficiency with standard functions within electronic applications such as MS Office (e.g., word processing, electronic spreadsheets) and e-mail.
Proficiency with computers (PCs and/or MACs) to include desktop management, f ile management and operations, and working in a network environment.
Exceptions to these requirements will be considered based on exemplary skills, training, and record of success.
